NORTEL NETWORKS SPONSORS SUPERSPRINTS

Nortel Networks, a leading global provider of unified voice and data network solutions, announced its sponsorship of Supersprints, the new format of high speed and relay competition for rowing.

Great Britain's best rowers including Olympic Gold Medallists Steve Redgrave and Greg Searle and World Champions James Cracknell, Miriam Batten and Gillian Lindsay have been selected to take on the Supersprints challenge. They will be competing against teams from the USA, Germany, Holland, Denmark and Russia in the London Docklands on Saturday, 11th September 1999.

Supersprints is set to be the new Formula 1 event on water. It incorporates a series of fast, furious and action packed sprint and relay races over 350 metres that will push the rowers to their limits in explosive effort and high rating.  Men and women will compete alongside each other in this new format of sprint rowing that will thrill spectators and TV audiences alike as they battle it out for maximum points.
